copaaa copaaa cabanaaaa

Rio, I LOVE YOU. You are amazing!

I've only been here for 2 days, but i'm in love with this place. I wish I was a gazillionaire so I could come here on holiday every 2 months. Everything is so colourful, and there's so many people - not in a overly crowded way, but more of a festive way with so much movement everywhere. This place is beeeautiful.
Here's just a few photo's from day 1. Rug and I just cruised around for most of the day, and had a little surf too. Ohh my word and I witnessed the most amazing sunset I've ever ever seen! Okkk no more typing, you can just see photos :)

 Contest site.

 cruising around.

ha, this was so fun to watch.

There are so many of these little beach bars - they're everywhere!

 Favela's just up the road.

 Pina colada's at copacobanaaaa!
Sugarloaf mountain in the background - I want to go there sometime this week :) I got told that I can't leave without going up there.

 walking back to our hotel.

The start of a beautiful sunset.
Rudy's holding a drawing that some random guy did of us while we were at the beach bar. His drawings are so good, and he does them in like 5 minutes.

 My favourite!

 I fell in love.

 Our hotel room.

The best police station ever. ha

I can't get over the pavements/floors in this place. Pretty much every road in Rio is made up of these mosaics. It must've taken forrreeevverrr!

My first time having Acai :)

oooh and here's a pretty video too:

Ok so that was day 1 and 2, I'll try update this blog everyday, but I'm a little bit backwards. My photo's usually go on facebook before my blog, because its waay easier. I think I need to switch those around though.. oooh and here's a pretty video too

Yeowww, ok more photo's soon!

South Africans speak funny.

I knew this already, but I'm starting to realise it a bit more now after spending time with a bunch of foreign humans :)

Today I am feeling like an old man. I'm hurting. I feel like I'm going to fall apart.
Thank you Wavehouse. 2 hours of going over the falls. Amazing.

Yesterday was a fun day :)  Spent the day with the Ticket To Ride crew in town. After a very entertaining breakfast, we tried surfing the smallest waves to ever exist. I stood up once. It took me 30 minutes, but I did it!

We went to play on the Wavehouse for 2 hours.  I hadn't been on in years so it was really fun to get back on the thing, even if I had to bodyboard most of the time because my standing skills failed me. hahaha.

Anyway, this week has been cool. I spent the week in Ballito with the guys from TTR and I did a coaching course, which made me feel like I was back at school. But I learnt a lot, which I guess is what's meant to happen at school anyway.. :)

I also went to Joburg for the first time ever :) We flew up on the weekend for Ty's dad's birthday. I'd never been there, and it was a short visit but it was cool to see a new place, and to meet his amazing family :) I never thought I'd say this, but I'll definitely be going to Joburg again one day!
I want this thing.

I still want this thing.

So it was an amazing yet random week - I met new humans; made new friends; saw old friends; didn't take many pictures; learnt new things; went to a different city; went back to "school"; fell on my face on the D-rex; and on and on and on - it was cool, I enjoyed it.

just a random photo

aaaaand, thats it!

Obrigada, Beeshes.

ROXY INVITATIONAL 2010 - Tofinho, Mozambique:

Okkk so, Myself and 9 other females got invited to surf in the Roxy Invitational.
Flip. That trip was amazing! It was the best crew ever!

Everyone got on so well, and I've never laughed so much in my life.

Ok, it takes pretty much 2 days to get there, but the long drive is so worth it.

We didn't quite get the waves we hoped for,
but it was still really fun,
and you can't really complain when you're in such a pretty place with your friends,
just surfing
and tanning

All day. haha

WELL DONE SARAH BAUM FOR WINNING! cheeee!
Thanks so much to the Roxy crew, Tamara and Dane. You people are cool. YEOw. :)

When we weren't surfing, we played at the market almost everyday, bargaining and trying to buy things at the price they should be, not at the RIDICULOUS amount they try charge you.
(I WILL NOT PAY R150 FOR A FRIDGE MAGNET) I'm a machine at bargaining. haaaa.

On my bargaining adventures, I met some pretty interesting guys that work there. I'm quite sure every guy in Tofo is called John, and prides his little stall as being "just like Mr Price".
But there were the few odd creative guys who called themselves Johnny Cash, Big Tomato, and Mr Delicious, and uhh, John.. It's really cool seeing so many local kids stoked on surfing, even with all their broken boards and torn boardies. They don't care - as long as they're surfing, they're happy. I like that :)

I wish I could be CLEVER sometimes and think of bringing my camera charger on trips with me. I almost took my toothbrush charger with , and I completely forgot about my camera charger. Really. Like it would be TRAGIC if my electric toothbrush died and I actually had to manually move it around in circles.

ANYWAY. So ya. It would've been great to take more pictures, but I'm a big girl, and I'll be just FINE. the ones I got aren't too bad...

(Johanne getting her hair braided)

A few of the girls got braids in their hair, it was quite cute. ha. It was more entertaining watching them turn into dreads after a few surfs.

It's nice being home, but I miss all the weird little humans that I played with in mozam :)
(Group shot)

Wow, this could possibly be the most I've ever put on a post before. Stop writing, Heidi, especially because none of it really makes sense. .Stop writing. STOP. Ha. I'd actually like to write stuff here that made sense to everyone else, but I can't think of anything to say that explains my trip. I think photo's do that. They're all on Facebook.

Obrigado.
